Sotheaphal is an attorney licensed by the Bar Association of Cambodia and has co-founded the law offices of Sotheaphal, Samnang, Sophy & Partners. Furthermore, he is a notary registered under the office of Nitei Niron Notary Public.He also serves as a member of Cambodia’s Royal Government Attorney Group.Sotheaphal has authored textbooks on property and labor laws and given interviews and written articles on a wide range of law topics, including articles published on the Bar Association bulletin and a co-authored article on Cambodian secured transactions law published on a University of Akron’s law journal in 2021, and has been teaching English language-based law courses at leading universities in Cambodia. He was a Scholar for the 25th Conference of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) and a member of the Law Association of Asia and the Pacific (LAWASIA). His areas of active legal practice include real estate, labor, banking and finance, telecommunications, due diligence, intellectual property, and merger & acquisition. He possesses extensive knowledge and experience of Cambodian law, custom, and practice, having started legal career in 2000 and intensively practiced law since 2008 at an international firm prior to joining SP&P. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Norton University of Cambodia (in 2000) and a Master of Laws degree from National University of Singapore (in 2004).
